Sprinkler pump room, monitored valve sets and trace heating frost protection.
WSD delivered the complete electrical installation supporting the sprinkler protection systems on the Chelsea Barracks residential redevelopment in London. The scope covered a sprinkler pump room serving the development, two monitored valve sets and trace heating frost protection for exposed pipework, all tied back to a central sprinkler monitoring infrastructure.
Following detailed design coordination and site planning meetings, we worked closely with the sprinkler contractor and the project management team so the electrical installation met operational requirements and aligned with the wider construction programme.

The sprinkler pump room was equipped with dedicated electrical services for two electrically driven sprinkler pumps, including power distribution, control wiring and monitoring interfaces. Cable routing, equipment accessibility and clear system status indication were built in throughout, making future maintenance and inspections straightforward.
Two sprinkler valve sets were installed and integrated as part of the same scope. One sits in the pump room itself, with the second located in a dedicated service room next to the car park area. Both assemblies feed real-time condition and alarm status back through the sprinkler monitoring infrastructure.

Trace heating frost protection systems were installed and commissioned across designated runs of exposed pipework, with monitoring signals interfaced back into the sprinkler monitoring panel so the team can see frost protection status and faults at a glance.
A comprehensive testing and commissioning programme verified pump operation, valve monitoring functions, trace heating performance and alarm reporting. Delivery concluded with as-installed documentation, test certification and operation and maintenance information, handed over to the client to BS 7671 and the project’s fire protection requirements.
