Full Life Safety Monitoring
Centralised monitoring of sprinkler, wet riser and wider life safety systems, with every key signal taken back to a local panel that gives your security and building maintenance team visibility of what’s actually happening across the building. Design, installation, commissioning, integration and ongoing remote monitoring, all delivered in-house.
If you’re managing a large estate, a multi-tenant building or a critical infrastructure site, the value of full life safety monitoring is that the FM team finds out about a closed isolation valve, a tripped flow switch or a panel fault in seconds rather than at the next routine inspection. That’s the difference between a quick reset and a serious incident.

What full life safety monitoring covers
Within a plant room or across a building, full life safety monitoring means taking every key signal from your sprinkler and wet riser systems back to a local monitoring panel. The panel sits where the security and FM team can see it (typically a security hub, reception, or dedicated facilities room) and gives an at-a-glance view of system status.
Signals typically monitored include:
- Sprinkler isolation valve positions – so a closed valve is flagged immediately rather than discovered at the next service visit
- Flow switch activations – signalling water movement through the sprinkler system in real time
- Tamper switch activations – signalling unauthorised access or interference with valves and controls
- Pump status and faults – main and jockey pump operation, fault conditions, controller status
- Pressure readings and trends – so a slowly dropping pressure is visible before it becomes an alarm
- Battery and power supply faults – across the sprinkler control panels and associated equipment
- Fire alarm panel interfaces – integration with the wider building fire alarm system
The panel can be supplied as a standalone monitoring solution or integrated with the building’s BMS, fire alarm system or remote monitoring service.

Remote diagnostics and monitoring contracts

For sites where 24/7 remote monitoring is the right answer, we offer:
- Remote diagnostics – secure remote access to system panels for fault investigation, configuration changes and routine health checks without dispatching an engineer
- Monitoring contracts – ongoing remote monitoring with defined response procedures for fault and alarm conditions
- Integration with alarm receiving centres (ARCs) – where required by the building’s fire strategy or insurer
These options are typically bundled with the wider sprinkler and fire safety maintenance contract rather than priced as standalone services.

Got questions? We've answered the common ones.
Quick answers on cover, callout times, accreditations and what working with us actually looks like. Still got a question? Get in touch.
Are you accredited?
Yes. WSD holds BAFE (SP203-1), NICEIC Approved Contractor and SafeContractor accreditations, and we are members of the FIA and BSI. Insurance: £5m public liability, £10m employers’ liability, £1m professional indemnity, £5m product liability. Certificates available on request.
Do you offer remote monitoring as a service?
Yes. Remote diagnostics and monitoring contracts are available, typically bundled with the wider sprinkler and fire safety maintenance contract.
What panels do you work with for life safety monitoring?
Kentec, Alarmtronic, Apollo, Advanced and Hochiki. Selection is driven by the project specification and the existing fire alarm infrastructure where the monitoring is being integrated.
What is full life safety monitoring?
A centralised system that takes every key signal from a building’s sprinkler, wet riser and life safety systems back to a local monitoring panel, giving the FM and security team real-time visibility of system status. Typically includes valve positions, flow switches, tamper switches, pump status, pressure readings and panel fault signals.
Can the life safety monitoring system integrate with our BMS?
Yes. Integration with BMS, main fire alarm systems, alarm receiving centres and other building systems is designed and programmed alongside the monitoring installation.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes, we deliver maintenance contracts and projects nationally from our Bromsgrove HQ. Most of mainland Britain is within a routine response window for reactive maintenance work.
Sites further from the Midlands may have slightly longer response windows for reactive call-outs; we can provide a map of typical response times by area during the initial survey if it’s relevant to your site.
How often do fire alarms need to be tested?
BS 5839 recommends a weekly user test (a single call point activated to check the alarm sounds), six-monthly servicing visits at a minimum, and an annual full functional test of every device. Most of our maintenance contracts are structured around four quarterly visits to spread the workload.

Panels
We design and install monitoring solutions around panels from leading manufacturers. Panel selection is driven by the project specification, the existing fire alarm infrastructure if the monitoring is being integrated, and the long-term maintenance preference. As with all our work, we install what fits the project rather than what fits us.

Applications
This service is most commonly specified across:
Large estates
Multi-building campuses where individual building status needs to roll up to a central view
Multi-tenant commercial buildings
Where tenant fit-outs and changes need to be tracked against the base building’s sprinkler infrastructure
Healthcare facilities
Hospitals and large care environments where uninterrupted life safety is critical
Education campuses
Schools, colleges and universities with multiple buildings and complex sprinkler zoning
Distribution and logistics warehouses
Large-volume sprinkler systems where visibility across the floor matters
Data centres and critical infrastructure
Where any change to the life safety system needs immediate FM visibility
High-rise residential and mixed-use buildings
Where sprinkler systems span many floors and zones

Integration
Full life safety monitoring integrates with:
Main fire alarm system
So monitoring signals appear on the central fire alarm panel as well as the local monitoring panel
Building Management Systems (BMS)
So the BMS sees the full life safety status alongside everything else it monitors
Sprinkler zone check assemblies
Flow and tamper monitoring from zone-checked installations
Pump control panels
Main and jockey pump status, fault conditions
VESDA aspirating smoke detection
Where used as part of the wider detection strategy
Gas suppression and pre-action systems
Status, alarm and fault reporting
Linear heat detection
Where deployed across cable trays, conveyors and similar high-risk environments
